On this 04th February 2020, IPRC Musanze hosted the National Skills Competition at the Northern Province level to select candidates who will compete at the national level. The National Skills Competition 2020 is under the theme, “Empower and Inspire Rwandan Youth to pursue personal and economic fulfillment through the power of skills.” This competition was organized to promote Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Rwanda and to instill excellence and competition culture among TVET students and TVET schools.
This competition brought together 45 competitors, who are under 30, from 15 TVET schools in the Northern Province. They were in different trades namely, Welding, Carpentry, Bricklaying, Electrical Wiring, Plumbing and Heating, Wall and Floor Tiring, Restaurant Service, Cooking, Digital Challenge, and Automotive Technology.
Successful candidates, from all corners of the country, will compete in the National skills Competition 2020 at the national level that will be held in IPRC Kigali from 25th to 27th March 2020.
The National Skills Competition is a good opportunity to expose Rwandan youth to a variety of skilled careers and equip them with the tools and resources they need to build a better future. It was organized to get potential candidates to represent Rwanda in WorldSkills Africa 2020competition that will take place in Swakopmund, Namibia from 25th to 31st October 2020.
The WorldSkills Africa 2020 competitionaimsat empowering and inspiring African youth to pursue personal and economic fulfillment through the power of skills.
The competition will cover 15 skills areas and will bring together competitors, international experts, global and regional Leaders and key stakeholders which are active in TVET not only for skills competition but also for various meetings which will define the future of TVET in Africa.
